Light of my Life Chapter 7 Update 0.7.3

This'll be the penultimate update for chapter 7 of Light of my Life I hope. After this, it's the Steam version, and when that goes up I'll probably push out a final version where I strip out the scene wheedling for adding it to the wish list there.

All in all, nothing major fixed, but I upgraded the ren'py version of PC/Linux and Mac as well.

Changelog:

  • Updated to ren'py 8.1.1 for all versions, hopefully bringing some performance improvements on low spec systems for all platforms. It does mean 32bit support is now well and truly out.
  • Added a new image to the main menu image carousel that unlocks at chapter 7.
  • Revised the main menu image carousel so it doesn't try to predict every unlocked set of images into cache at once anymore, which was causing stalls.
  • Updated the final big scene to have a regular and a streamlined version (with the player being offered the choice at the start of that scene) (*)
  • Another batch of typos, fixed some continuity issues that no one noticed yet, and added a few lines of dialog to a certain couch talk in chapter 6.

*) Streamlined basically cuts some of the introduction dialog and hotwires a bunch of menu options to skip the little tangents and asides, offering players that felt all the talk was throwing the pacing off a better experience, while keeping the original version intact for those like me that preferred the relaxed intimacy of the slower-paced one. It's still far from a short scene though.

No! It's a lie that it's working on the Android version. BECAUSE IT IS NOT.

Because version 6.4 works perfectly, and this new version after almost 2 years is all this suffering?

Well for me it works again (version 0.7.3), so it's not a lie in that sense. Apparently others are not as lucky. I know how you feel, as I've felt the same with version 0.7.2 which crashed every two minutes. I hope it will be fixed for you as well at some point.

Another update means another try. Fingers crossed it will run better on android than the previous one without crashing every 2 minutes.

Edit: I'm happy to inform that the android version runs like a charm. I'm 30 minutes in without any crashes. Good job :D
